Figuring out the next step
Breaking career myths
Finding a career that fits
Wear the Cape
Get them involved in decision-making - A good coach supports and guides, but encourages youth to dig for answers themselves
Build employability - Promote volunteering, school co-ops, part-time employment, or joining a team to help build a great resume
Plan a visit (even a virtual one) - Visit a post-secondary institution to learn more about its programs and the types of careers they can lead to
Recognize skills and abilities -Help youth to see what they are good at and how that can link to potential career paths
Crunch the numbers - Help youth understand the practicalities of planning and paying for a post-secondary education
Encourage and reassure - A career path is a journey and its success is based on a lifetime of decisions. It’s okay to not have all the answers!
